Haryana to provide aid to sugar mills  

The Haryana Government has decided to provide a financial assistance to the tune of Rs 40 crore to sugar mills in the state during the current financial year to clear last year''s arrears of cane growers. A provision of Rs 80 crore to provide as financial assistance to the sugar mills for the next financial year.
Stating this here today, Cooperation Minister Paramvir Singh said the government had set up a cogen plant in Shahbad Sugarmill at a cost of Rs 90 crore which would generate 24 MW of power and out of this 16 MW power would be supplied to the State Grid. With this way, Shahbad Sugar mill would earn an additional sum of Rs 3.50 crore per month .
Singh said the state government has also approved modernisation and cogen plant at Panipat Sugar mills. He said that a cogen plant of 12 MW would be set up in Panipat Cooperative Sugar mills and it would helpful in meeting the growing demand of power.
