arun Gandhi To Be Indicted For Anti-Muslim Speech

The Pilibhit administration has been granted permission by the Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh to indict BJP’s Lok Sabha MP Varun Gandhi for his anti-Muslim speech at a rally last year.
An FIR was filed against him on March 19, 2009 by the Pilibhit district magistrate for his communal speech. The FIR was filed in the wake of a notice issued by the Election Commission which accused Gandhi of violating the elections’ code of conduct in response to Congress’ complaint.
In the March 6, 2009 BJP rally, Varun Gandhi is alleged to have said, "If anyone raises a finger towards Hindus or if someone thinks that Hindus are weak and leaderless, if someone thinks that these leaders lick our boots for votes, if anyone raises a finger towards Hindus, then I swear by the Gita that I will cut that hand."
