Love Aaj Kal Veer does not understand how Jai can treat matters of the heart without passion. Jai does not understand how Veer Singh could have been so naive and silly about Harleen in his youth. But as both stories unfold, we realize that the process of relationship might be different in different eras, but the experience of being in love remains the same.
Love Aaj Kal travels multiple continents and different eras. The subject matter is novel, never attempted before, but the material, the characters (Saif and Deepika especially) as also its execution is targeted at the youth in big cities mainly. As they say in filmi lingo, this one's a hardcore multiplex movie.
The second hour is the soul of the film. Right from the time Deepika decides to marry, till the last reunion, the film touches an emotional high.
This is a forward-thinking film that handles the new-age relationships with complete understanding. The songs compliment the goings-on beautifully. This is amongst Pritam's accomplished works. Be it Twist (already a rage), Aahun Aahun (foot-taping), Chor Bazaari (melodious) or Dooriyaan (melancholic), each song is a gem. N Natarajan Subramaniam's cinematography is fantastic. Editing (Aarti Bajaj) is wonderful.
Both Saif and Deepika come up with their career-best performances in Love Aaj Kal. Saif carries the most difficult parts with remarkable ease. Sure, we've seen him as the cool, urban guy in several films, but this one's the most demanding role and only a seasoned actor could've delivered it with such precision.
Deepika looks ethereal. Most importantly, in Love Aaj Kal, she acts very, very well. Matching up to Saif is no mean achievement and she does it in several scenes. This should be the turning point in her career. Rishi Kapoor is top notch. The actress enacting the role of Harleen is pretty. Rahul Khanna does well in a small, but significant role. Watching Neetu Kapoor in the end sequence is truly astonishing. She's so graceful.
On the whole, Love Aaj Kal is for the young and romantic at heart. Sure, it's not perfect, but the terrific performances, melodious music and stirring emotional moments (lasts 35 odd minutes) more than compensate for the hiccups. At the box-office, the film should start with a bang for four factors - its novel cast, super music, great promotion and yes, Imtiaz Ali, a name that commands respect amongst moviegoers. Released extensively (approximately 1800 screens worldwide), Love Aaj Kal will have one of the biggest first weeks in India and also in the international markets. In India, the business will be superb across multiplexes, while single screens might not behave as energetically. But the business at multiplexes will ensure a fantastic recovery of the investment. Internationally, it has the potential to emerge one of the biggest grosser in recent times.

E.Sreedharan, who has been the managing director of the DMRC since its inception, announced his resignation at a press conference here and expressed "lot of pain and remorse" over the pre-dawn accident in south Delhi.
Sreedharan just turned 77-year-old. He came to be known as "Metro Man" for delivering to the capital a world-class Metro rail system. He sent his resignation to Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and Governor Tejendra Khanna following the accident around 5.00 a.m. Sunday. Five people were killed including an engineer and 15 people were injured in one of the worst accidents involving Delhi Metro.

Eminent Marathi poet, writer, lyricist and music director Shantaram Nandgaonkar died here on Saturday morning after a long illness from Alzheimer’s disease, a family member said. He was 75 years. he was suffering from the disease from past three years.
Nandgaonkar is survived by his wife Vrinda, sons Prashant and Milind, daughter Sharmila, and grandchildren. The funeral will be held on saturday at Khar crematorium.
He wrote the song “Ya Duniyemadhye Thambaayela Vel Konala”. This song was sung by cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar.

The long standing beta tag has been removed from some of the popular google services. These include Gmail, Gtalk, Google apps suite and Google calendar. Well, it wouldn't make much difference to me. Gmail has been the most stable beta release I have ever used. The word Beta has almost been the tagline in most of the googles service.
Do you like this move? Well, to be frank, the word beta makes me think the app is more lively, in the sense the application is constantly in development and we get to see new features every now now and then. But making it a stable release doesn't bring new features, its like a hiberanting version of an app which comes to life after some time. Hope, Google proves me wrong, by adding more features.

A Disney Monorail crash killed a driver. The crash occurred at EPCOT center, Orlando, FL early on Sunday. The driver rear-ended another train at about 2 AM EDT which caused the accident. The other operator was uninjured.
The driver was pronounced death at the scene. All other were reported safe with no injuries as such. This was the first ever fatal accident in the 39 year history of Disney Monorail.

A 19 year old teenager from Revere, Mass., was sentenced to 11 years in prison for call spoofing. The teenager used to hack the Verizon network and faked the 911 calls. He made the calls appear from the victims house by spoofing the call. report says that the teenager was a part of sophisticated hacker group who did "swatting calls".
The teenager, Weigman has said to be involved in telelphone hacking since the age of fourteen.
Previously back in June 2006, a swatter, Guadalpue Martinez simililarl swapped the calls can amde it appear from Alvarado, Texas. And told that he was holding hostages and has killed family members with AK-47. He was sentenced 30 months in prison.
This kind of swatting calls interferes with the emergency services like police and ambulance. Service personnel are fooled into these fake calls.

Telecom majors BSNL and MTNL have now discontinued the group dialing facility. This would be done across the whole country in all the telecom circles. Now the group dialing code '95' would be allocated to private mobile service providers like Aircel cellular, Idea, Reliance which would be utilized for their GSM operations.
Previously BSNL subscribers could make calls up to 200km from landlines by prefixing the code '95'. This made the call to be treated as local call and was not considered as STD call. MTNL has similar operations in Mumbai and Delhi telecom circles.
Many forecast this move as death of landline segments in India. According to TRAI there have been regular declination of wireline subscribers in India.
