HYDERABAD: India's tennis player, Sania Mirza is to be married to Shoaib Malik, the former cricket captain of Pakistan. A formal wedding reception has been scheduled within a month. There will be no engagement function.
This news was confirmed by Imran Mirza, father of Sania, late on Monday night.
“The couple will be based in Dubai, where Shoaib is a resident, and Sania will continue to play tennis once she recovers fully from the wrist injury that has marred her career in the recent past,” Imran said.
“My wedding is going to be the biggest day of my life.
“I have been under constant glare of the public for too long and would appreciate more privacy at this very personal moment in my life,” Sania said.
“I hope to be fully fit to represent India in the Commonwealth and Asian Games that are scheduled for later this year,” she added.

Manoj Tiwary and Sourav Ganguly hammered blistering half-centuries as Kolkata Knight Riders thumped Kings XI Punjab by 39 runs in their Indian Premier League match here on Saturday.
Electing to bat, the Knight Riders posted a competitive 183 for five, their highest score of the tournament, and then restricted Kings XI Punjab at 144 for six to snap their three-match losing streak.
Tiwary blasted a 47-ball 75 bejewelled with eight fours and two sixes, while Ganguly's breezy 40-ball innings included six fours and one six.
Chasing 184 to win, Kings XI Punjab batsmen got starts but couldn't materialise them into big score as they lost half of their side within 100 runs inside 15 overs.
Shane Bond and Ajit Agarkar picked up two wickets each, while Angelo Matthews and Chris Gayle scalped one apiece to contribute to their team's win.

James Cameron has slammed the procedure employed by some filmmakers to convert films lensed in 2D to the 3D format.
According to Cameron, making a movie in 3D - like he filmed Avatar - ensures better quality over subsequent conversion.
Cameron said filmmakers "should have been pounding on the gates of the studios saying we want to make movies in 3D."
However, the Titanic director, 55, pointed out that the appetite for 3D films might soon dip.
"The problem is these decisions should be made by film-makers, they shouldn't be made by studios, because if it was up to studios they're going to sacrifice quality for lower cost," the BBC quoted Cameron, as saying.
Cameron has also disclosed plans to convert Titanic into 3D, but said he will take his time and not go with a "slapdash conversion".

China has now become part of the rich nations league to be the "biggest polluter" of atmosphere. Seen as a major contributor to green house gas emissions, next to the US, it owes to the world what is being termed as "climate debt". Hammering the point was Ms Victoria Tauli Corpuz, Chairperson of UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous issues, at a seminar on indigenous people, Climate change and rural poverty. Leading the Indian delegation was Agatha Sangma, Minister of state for rural development. She spoke about India's effort to focus on "inclusive growth" and the different policies to help the poor, disadvantaged and marginalized segments of the population.
Earlier, Sangma highlighted some of the Indian government's schemes for rural employment, watershed development and skill development of the rural poor. More importantly she pledged that India would, in the next three years, be a country which is what she called "open defecation free".

Each district in Jammu and Kashmir will soon have a state-of-the-art automatic weather station, making collection of the weather data more accessible.
Speaking to IANS here Tuesday on the World Meteorological Day, T.K. Jotshi, assistant director of the local weather office, admitted the state needed more weather observatories than the present ten, which he said was inadequate.
'At present, we have only ten weather observatories across the state while there are 22 districts and we need at least one weather observatory in each district,' Jotshi said, adding 22 state-of-the- art automatic weather stations would soon be in place in the state, one in each district.
'Each such automatic weather station would make weather forecasting, analysis of weather date and parameters more easy and readily available,' he said.
He said the weather office would also set up an automatic rain gauge station in at least two tehsils of each of the 22 districts in the state.
'This would make weather forecast and data available to the farmers and the residents of the state at the grassroots levels.'
'Weather has always played a crucial role in the lives of human beings, but in a Himalayan state like Jammu and Kashmir, weather knowledge becomes more essential and vital. We have got to inform the people about snowfall, inclement weather, avalanche threats, heavy or scant rainfall to plan their crops, etc,' he said.
Accurate and timely forecast of weather is also essential for planning and organising social functions like marriages, he added.
'Unexpected rainfall often spoils all the fun during such ceremonies. It is, therefore, important that we provide weather forecasts regularly to the people here and also try and inculcate in them the habit to learn more about weather by freely interacting with the weather office.'
'We are available to everybody who needs information and data about the weather. A social awareness has to be created that instead of consulting the soothsayers and crystal ball gazers, people ask us what is in store on the weather front,' Jotshi said.
He said an interactive voice response system is already installed and functional in the local weather office in Srinagar.

Five persons were killed in a devastating fire that swept through a 150-year-old multi-storeyed building housing offices and residences on upscale Park Street on Tuesday.
While two leapt to their death from upper floors, three died in hospitals from burns, Commissioner of Kolkata Police Gautam Mohan Chakraborty told reporters at the scene.
The toll might rise, Fire Services Minister Pratim Chatterjee said.
The dead were identified as Sourav Barik and Richa Krishnan who jumped off the building, Stephen Court, while Pradip Chokhalia, Vivek Upadhyay and Bikash Agarwala died in hospital, he said.
Stephen Court, located in the heart of the city, houses the iconic 100-year-old Flury's confectionery house and a large music store called Music World and several other offices.
Police and firemen, however, failed to establish contact with the employees of a firm, Microsystems, in the building, Chakraborty said.
The blazes on the third and fourth floors were under control, the police chief said.
He said three gas cylinders exploded inside the building as the fire raged, while 12 more were recovered.
Chatterjee said 22 persons, including a 90-year-old woman, were rescued from the burning building.

Beau Saif Ali Khan's Padma Shri at 40 may have garnered unwanted heat, but it has also spurred actress Kareena Kapoor to start eyeing the honour. "Not yet but may be in five-seven years.
With the support of my friends from the industry and the media it can happen. I'm looking forward to the day.
" Kareena recently presented a Mercedes to sister, Karisma, to celebrate the birth of her nephew, Kian Raj. "It was a gesture of love.
She has given us two beautiful children to dote on. We have been an all-woman family for a long time," she says proudly.
Meanwhile, another Kapoor boy, cousin Ranbir, has edged Kareena out of Imtiaz Ali's next film. The actress says, "Yeah, Imtiaz wanted me, but a brother and sister can't be paired romantically.
It's really sad. At least a 100 people have told me that.
It's okay, there are other actors I can make a movie with, including the Khans." About opting out of Race 2, she says, "Saif's doing the film, I'm not.
Everyone wanted me in but I had to step out. It's a conscious decision not to do too many films with Saif.
" 'I'm the first Indian to be signed up' Kareena, who's just been signed up by an international phone brand to promote a new product alongside tennis star Anna Kournikova, says, "I've endorsed some really big brands in the past, but this is still a big deal because I'm the first Indian to be signed up by the brand.
my size zero tag also helped. Being the face of a multinational company abroad will help my films too in the overseas market.
" 'I'm playing a role enacted by Julia Roberts in the original'.

With the United States government conveying that India would be able to obtain access to David Coleman Headley to question him in a properly constituted judicial proceeding - either pre-trial or during an inquiry or trial - the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is constituting a team of officials to be sent to the US for the same. Headley recently pleaded guilty for his role in the 26/11 Mumbai terror strikes,
Sources in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said the team that will be sent to the US will comprise officials from the NIA, MHA, Intelligence Bureau (IB) and other security agencies.
While Union Home Minister P Chidambaram has already directed NIA and other agencies concerned to "quickly prepare the documents necessary to start a judicial proceeding in which Indian authorities could require Headley to answer questions and/or to testify", a greater clarity on the mode of access provided to Indian investigators is expected to emerge in the days to come. Indian sleuths, sources said, would prefer to question Headley across the table.

This definitely is not music to the ears of Sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shanker. A Delhi court has ruled against him in a five-year-old legal battle over payment dues against a company which built his prestigious music institute in Chanakyapuri. Tees Hazari Additional District Judge Dinesh Bhatt directed the renowned musician and his Trust to jointly pay Rs 15. 8 lakh to V.K. Constructions. The company, which began the construction for the Rs 2.69 crore Ravi Shanker Institute for Music and Performing Arts in July 1998, completed work in March 2003. While settling the bills, Rs 15.8 lakh was held back on the ground that certain defects needed to be set right. The company's lawyer, Richa Kapoor, told the court that the dues were not cleared even after they said defects were rectified. She said that the company sent repeated reminders and legal notices. But the musician and the Trust running the music institute took the stand that the dues were not paid as defects were not removed and so they were forced to engage the services of three other contractors for the purpose. But the court found that Ravi Shanker had not specified the defects and that the new contractors entrusted with the task had not been called in as witnesses in his support. "There is no evidence on record to prove as to the nature of defects left behind by plaintiff and if they were so grave to disentitle plaintiff (the builder) from payment. this therefore proves that all major defects were attended and removed by the plaintiff," the court said. An embarrassment
"In view of the findings, interest of justice would be met if plaintiff is further awarded interest at the rate of 6 per cent interest from the time of the filing of the suit till realisation", the court said.

Police are looking into the "security lapses" in connection with the crude explosive material detected in the cargo hold of the Kingfisher airline but said the object was not of high density though it could have exploded due to air pressure. Police teams from the city and Thiruvananthapuram engaged in investigations said they were focusing their attention on "security lapses".
"We have not chanced upon any leads so far," Bangalore City Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-East Division) Basavaraj Malagatti told PTI, even as a police official said in Thiruvananthapuram "we are collecting all the details from both the airports for analysis". The investigation would look into all aspects including on how the explosive material made its way into the cargo hold, the source from where it was procured, the official said in Thiruvananthapuram.
The explosive, wrapped in a Malayalam newspaper, was found during a security check of the cargo section of the ATR-72 aircraft after 27 passengers and four crew members, who arrived at Thiruvananthapuram from Bangalore, had deplaned. "We will be collecting all the details from both airports for analysis.
We will be helped by other agencies concerned. However, as the detection was done here, the state police will be playing a vital role in investigations and pursuance of the case", a police official said.
Meanwhile, an FIR drawn up in the case in Thiruvananthapuram said the substance was not of high intensity and forensic analysis showed that it was a mixture of potassium chlorite, ammonia and sulphur. A three-member police team, led by Thiruvananthapuram Police Commissioner M R Ajaya Kumar, visited the Bengaluru International Airport and quizzed all the employees of the airline, viewed the footage of CCTV. Bangalore police were yet to depute their team to the neighbouring state.
Taking the incident seriously, Regional Directorate of Civil Aviation Commission in Chennai issued a fresh set of security guidelines to be followed by airlines. The Commission directed that all staff entering the operational area in the airports should be compulsorily frisked and manual checking of hand baggage intensified in order to scale up security measures.

Google's decision to stop censoring search engine results in China flies in the face of common wisdom when it comes to doing business in the country.
China is supposed to be too important to ignore, the promise of a market with more than 1 billion people too lucrative to pass up. Common business wisdom holds that no company can afford to ignore, let alone walk away from, China. But in a blog posting Monday, Google said it has taken the first step: redirecting search, news and image results from Google.cn to servers in Hong Kong, "where we are offering uncensored search in simplified Chinese, specifically designed for users in mainland China,"

“If the deaf are to hear, the sound has to be very loud. When we dropped the bomb, it was not our intention to kill anybody."
“The aim of life is no more to control the mind, but to develop it harmoniously; not to achieve salvation here after, but to make the best use of it here below; and not to realise truth, beauty and good only in contemplation, but also in the actual experience of daily life; social progress depends not upon the ennoblement of the few but on the enrichment of democracy; universal brotherhood can be achieved only when there is an equality of opportunity – of opportunity in the social, political and individual life.” – from Bhagat Singh’s prison diary

Offering flowers, sweets and fruits to god has been a part of age-old tradition in Hinduism but in Karwar district of Karnataka, devotees offer alcohol and cigarettes to Lord Muneshwara.
Scores of devotees from all over the country including Maharashtra and Goa visit this temple to get their wishes fulfilled by offering cigarettes and alcohol.ccording to Anand Raj Naik, a priest of Muneshwara temple, alcohol and cigarettes were liked by Him. Hence, it is been made a ritual here to offer as a religious offering to please and seek His blessings.
"People pray to Lord Muneshwara for fulfilment of their wishes and once their wish is fulfilled, they come here to offer cigarette, non-vegetarian food and wine. These things were his favourite when He was alive. Hence we are still following this ritual to please him," said Naik.
Every March, a fair is organized near the temple, where scores of devotees come to offer alcohol, goat and chicken.
"Lord Muneshwara has fulfilled all our wishes, even if somebody is sick in our family, I believe that lord will cure him. In return, we come here to offer him cigarette and wine," said Kiran Venkatraman, a devotee.
It is believed that lord Muneshwara also called "Khapri" by locals, came to Karwar 300 years ago and took to renunciation.
He then served the poor and the needy. After his death, a temple was constructed at a place called Karwar.

Is the heat making you listless and dull? Try a glass of cold limejuice with a bit of sugar, salt and a dash of cumin powder. Or grab a tumbler of buttermilk. If neither is accessible, stop over at a fruit stall and help yourself to tender coconut.
You'll be surprised how fast these quick-fix solutions work to recharge your energy-sapped system. Peddar Road-based jewellery designer Reshma Mehta has a favoured recipe to beat the heat: "Panna (a juice made from boiled or roasted raw mango pulp). I don't drink carbonated beverages - they make me feel bloated. I prefer my mother's recipe for raw mango juice - the pudina (mint), coriander leaves, cumin seed powder and dash of black salt make it very tasty and refreshing."
Pushpesh Pant, a professor at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi, and researcher of traditional Indian food, seconds that. "Traditional Indian cuisine," he says, "contains redhydrant and restorative supplements in preparations like chutneys and sherbets, as well as the vast variety of raitas that we have." The key summer advisory for food is to eat light and include ingredients that have cooling properties, he says.
Curd, cumin, khus, sandal, rose water, tamarind and anaardana (pomegranate seeds) are naturally cooling. Go heavy on homemade salads and squash vegetables like bottle gourd, snake gourd, pumpkins, which have high water content. If you don't like these vegetables, the good professor has interesting alternatives. "Go for soups like gazpacho and chooza chaat (chaat made with smoked chicken cuts), Mediterranean dips and Thai salads instead of heavy spicy food," he says.
Tofu, green Thai curries, hummus, moussaka and the Lebanese version of bhartha are very good alternatives to the hot Indian food we are used to. Cold cuts are fairly foreign to the Indian food habit, but Pant says cold cuts, tandoori or dum make great fillings for pita bread sandwiches and wraps.
"Steamed dhoklas and idlis, chaat items like dahi bhalla can be substituted for a main course," he says. And don't forget sol kadi, that divine coastal preparation from Maharashtra. The diluted-coconut-milk-and-kokum base soothes the digestive system.

Suresh Tewatia wanted to send an e-mail to his younger brother. But he was shocked to read a mail, supposedly from his bank, informing him of a withdrawal of Rs 90,000 from his bank account.
In case, the e-mail cautioned, Tewati did not know of the transaction, he must "verify" his "personal information" to safeguard against hacking. The electronic goods supplier promptly complied.
A week later, a "big sum" went missing from his account. Tewatia had just become a target of cyber forgery through phishing, a criminally fraudulent technique of attempting to acquire/steal confidential information such usernames, internet banking password and credit card detail.
"There has been a sharp rise in the number of complaints related to phishing attacks," said Noida police's Deputy Superintendent of Police R.N. Mishra who oversees their counter-cyber crime investigations. "The target of accused persons, specialising in the technology-aided cyber crime of phishing, currently is to siphon off people's money from their accounts by duping them into parting with their user name and net banking password," he said.
Businessman Pawan Kumar Aggarwal, another phishing victim, lost Rs 1.66 crore several months ago. The cyber frauds stole the sum from his bank account in several transactions over five days.
The probe has found the connivance of "locals" with the "original masterminds" who might be based abroad or across the country, Mishra said.

The union cabinet on Friday approved an additional budget of Rs 687 crore to the 2010 Commonwealth Games Organising Committee for the quadrennial extravaganza to be held in the Capital from October 3 to 14.
With the Games last budgeted at close to Rs 1620 crore, a fresh request "for overlays" had been made by the Organising Committee (OC) to the sports ministry. The catch was that the OC wanted the new funds, totalling Rs 687 crore, not to be treated as a loan but a grant. However, the cabinet made it clear this was going to be cleared only as a loan. As of now, the total loan taken by the OC comes to a staggering Rs 2,307 crore.
A lot of people have been wondering what "overlays" means. Simply put, this means expenses to be incurred on marquees, tents, temporary structures for tickets booths, spectator services/ security checks, cabins, furniture and fixtures. It also includes expenditure which will be incurred on public display systems, diesel generating (DG) sets, UPS backup, washing machines/ dryers and ice-making containers at the Games Village.

The Delhi Finance Minister, A.K.Walia provides the ending touch to the Delhi Budget 2010. He told that the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) are struggling with its financial health, the budget could also see an announcement of increase in water and transport tariff.
To strengthen its coffers, the government will also have the option of withdrawing the Rs 40 subsidy per cylinder being given to domestic consumers but officials said the possibility is very remote.
In the Delhi Budget 2010, allocations for the different departments are expected to drop but The Delhi Government is looking for increasing its revenue collections by raising registration fees of the new emerging cars by the introduction of new slabs, by increasing the price of luxury tax on some products and by enhancing the VAT charges. In the Delhi Budget 2010, it is also expected by the state government that it can withdraw the cylinder subsidy on LPG upto Rs.40 that is costing the exchequer of Rs.168 crore. The Indian Premier League set a new record on Sunday, as it sold two new teams for $703m in a clear sign of the growing interest among companies to reach India’s burgeoning consumer classes via the country’s most lucrative sporting extravaganza.
Indian conglomerate Sahara and Rendezvous Sport bought the Pune and Kochi teams for $370m and $333m, respectively, more than the total it fetched for the franchise of eight teams it auctioned when the cricket tournament was launched two years ago.

GODREJ’s Social Networking Site “GOJIYO.com” Launched
The Godrej has launched a social networking site. Godrej is a prominient business leader in India with lots of products in the market ranging from soaps, refrigirator and various other products. Since the laucnch of Gojiyo.com 13,000 thousand peoples have joined it with in 13 hours.
From the number of registration it has received it can not be said that Gojiyo has attracted a large number of people given the Brand name of GODREJ in India. This numer of 13000 figure in 13 hours is not a big number to boast of the Gojiyo.com super launch.
The features of Gojiyo will decide as how much market it is going to capture. There are already lots of social networking sites with millions of users with Orkut being on top of the world. Now the capability of social networking site with new and easy to use interface only will determine the number of users the social networking site is likely to have.
The Gojiyo.com seems to be slow site, even though the people may not agree with me on account of heavy traffic on the Gojiyo.com on its launch but the fact is the website of slow and this is not a good feature in my view.

Catch Live IPL 2010, T-20 Cricket match, Delhi Daredevils (DD) vs Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
Watch DD vs CSK Live : Delhi Daredevils Vs Chennai Super Kings Live Streaming , IPL 2010 CSK vs DD Live Match : Delhi Daredevils vs Chennai Super Kings
Date: 19th March 2010
Time: 16:00 local
Venue: FSK – Delhi
Delhi Daredevils vs Chennai Super Kings Live Streaming : The early game on Friday is in Delhi. Ahead of the first match at the Feroz Shah Kotla on Wednesday there were concerns that the pitch might be a little too bowler-friendly (an ODI was abandoned for that reason a few months ago). It turned out to be even-paced and Sachin Tendulkar-friendly (Lord’s apart, where isn’t?) as a 32-ball outburst from the Little Master helped the Mumbai Indians to 218-7, which was almost 100 runs too good for their hosts. So if Delhi or Chennai have some Tendulkars in their ranks, they’ll be just fine.
Delhi Daredevils Vs Chennai Super Kings Live Streaming, Live Score
Hayden needs to probably use his Mongoose bat and thrash about than try cheeky shots over the fine-leg, whereas the likes of Suresh Raina and Murali Vijay need to play their natural game and not look to beat the leather out of every ball.
Delhi Daredevils vs Chennai Super Kings Live Streaming
It is the Chennai bowling that is a bit of a worry. Albie Morkel cannot be described as a new ball bowler and continued to leak runs, whereas Sudeep Tyagi’s confidence would be rather low. Hence, the captain needs to look for options and if possible even look at starting with spinners.
Team:
A hamstring injury to Delhi’s Gautam Gambhir and a hit on the arm for Chennai’s MS Dhoni have left both teams without their captains for this game. A couple of younger Indian internationals will replace them: Dinesh Karthik comes in for Gambhir and Suresh Raina for Dhoni.
Delhi are most likely to promote Tillakaratne Dilshan to open, as he did in Gambhir’s absence from the batting lineup against Mumbai, and bring in a bits-and-pieces man like Rajat Bhatia. There is an alternative, however: Australian biffer David Warner, who scored a half-century against the Super Kings last year, is just about over some back problems and could come straight into the top of the order, but to meet the four-foreigners rule one of Dilshan, AB de Villiers, Farvees Maharoof or Dirk Nannes would have to be dropped.
Dhoni’s unavailability means Chennai’s gloves will go to Parthiv Patel, one of his predecessors at international level. vpost : 06

The BSE Sensex (^BSESN : 17530.29 +11.03) was set for solid gains in 2010, driven by earnings optimism and supported by robust economic growth, albeit at a slower rate than last year, a Reuters poll found. The 30-share BSE Sensex was seen rising 3.6 percent by mid-year and by nearly 11 percent by end-2010 from Tuesday's close at 17,383, according to the median forecast of 20 brokerages and investment houses.
The benchmark was expected to rise to 18,000 points by end-June and end 2010 at 19,250. Forecasts ranged from 13,800-21,500. The year-end figure was up from 19,000 in a December poll.
"Earnings growth will clearly be a driver for the market this year," said Manish Sonthalia, fund manager of portfolio management services at Motilal Oswal, who expects the Sensex to touch 19,000 by end the of the year.
Asia's third-largest economy will expand by more than 7.2 percent in the year to March 2010, with growth accelerating to 8.5 percent in 2010-11 and 9 percent in 2011-12, according to government forecasts.
The Mumbai benchmark stock index rose 81 percent last year after the economy was spared the worst of the global economic downturn, with foreign investors pumping in $17.5 billion.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati was Monday presented a giant garland of currency notes by her fans from Karnataka. Though the exact value of the garland is not known, onlookers put it in the region of a whopping Rs.5 crore!
In fact, no one noticed the Rs.1,000 currency notes with which the giant garland was created until these were identified by a local photographer when he zoomed in.
Earlier, while Mayawati was being garlanded, mediapersons could make out from a distance that it was not a run-of-the-mill garland. But beholders perceived it as one made of some exquisite imported flowers.
However, the mystery was unravelled no sooner than the still pictures were promptly lifted and beamed by TV channels.
Those present on the dais, however, feigned ignorance about the unique garland in which some 50,000 currency notes of Rs.1,000 each were believed to have been used.
The garland was specially crafted and brought by Mayawati’s party functionaries all the way from Bangalore for Monday’s mega rally organised by her to mark the Bahujan Samaj Party’s silver jubilee celebrations, which coincided with the 76th birth anniversary of party founder and her political mentor Kanshi Ram.
