Two Oscar nods for AR Rahman

Rahman, 44, was nominated for Best Original Song for the track "If I Rise" and for Best Original Score for the film. He won the same trophies in 2009 for his score in Boyle's much-acclaimed "Slumdog Millionaire", a film that introduced him to Hollywood.

He has since composed songs for Hollywood films like "Couples Retreat" and "127 Hours" and won the Critics Choice award for his score in the latter. He however, lost out in the Golden Globes race to Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, who won for their score in "The Social Network".
