DARBHANGA (BIHAR): A magistrate probing complaints of irregularities at an 'anganwari' was allegedly beaten up by villagers in Darbhanga district, police said.
Rajeshwari Prasad was on a visit to an anganwadi centre at Dhamhara village under Baheri block to probe alleged irregularities when Ranjit Kumar Diwakar, husband of the incharge of the centre Menka Devi, attacked him along with locals, police said.
They alleged that the magistrate had threatened his wife to implicate her in a case if she failed to pay bribe.
Prasad, however, managed to escape from the place and registered a case against Diwakar and another villager, who were later arrested.
