SRPF personnel shoots at wife with service weapon; arrested

A State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) constable injured his wife by shooting at her with his service rifle at Sinjhi village near Limbasi town in Kheda district on Saturday.
The constable, identified as Mahendra Premabhai Parmar from SRPF Group 8 at Gondal in Rajkot, has been arrested, while his wife Kokila Parmar is undergoing treatment at a local private hospital. She sustained injury on the right leg.
Sub-Inspector G N Parmar of Limbasi police said, "The accused, who is a native of Singhi, went to his in-laws house and attacked his wife over some dispute that had occurred a week ago when Kokila left his Sant Ram Nagar house in Nadiad."
He added that a case of attempt to murder was lodged against Mahendra on Saturday night. On Sunday, the villagers caught the accused and handed him over to the police.
"The accused had fired a round from his service rifle," said Parmar, adding that they are yet to ascertain the exact dispute that led to the incident.
"We are yet to find out the nature of the dispute. We produced the accused before the Matar Court, which remanded him in judicial custody at the Nadiad Sub-Jail," said Parmar, who is investigating the case.
