Two human skeletons found near temple in Ghazipur

Ghazipur, Sep 7 (ANI): Panic gripped Ghazipur district after two human skeletons were recovered from a temple's premises.

These skeletons were found during the digging for construction of a residential complex behind the 'Kamakhya Devi (goddess)' temple within its premises.

The news of discovery of skeletons raised alarm and anxious locals from near and far crowded at the site to have a glimpse.

"The area where Hindu priest's room was being constructed ...at a distance of 10-12 metres from the temple's premises near to the wall, there two male skeletons were found and lot of people came here to see them," said Baldev, a residennt.

Police have denied foul play, saying that the degenerative state of the skeletons points towards a dated history.

"When digging process was going on, then director of Archaeological Survey of India came and he informed us that the skeletons are very old. He took these skeletons for further research to find out their exact date. Also, till now we have not come across any missing or murder complaint. If we will come to know then we will begin our investigation," said L Ravi Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Ghazipur.

Along with the skeletons, some stones that were found during the excavation are also being taken for examination. (ANI)
