Commercial tax preparers taking advantage of customers
A group that helps low-income families said an undercover review of 13 commercial tax preparers found problems with all of them.People who take their taxes to be prepared don't expect to be ripped off. But that's what's happening, according to Impact Alabama.The group found significant fraud and negligence among 13 unlicensed seasonal commercial tax preparers across Alabama. Some commercial tax companies are charging high fees and making costly miscalculations with their clients' money."They don't care about betraying the parent, they don't care about setting this taxpayer up later in the year for an audit to penalized," Black said.State Rep. Laura Hall said she's fighting tax preparers who abuse their customers.
