The Tribune – US-based Punjabi body alleges harassment by Indian diplomat; Sends complaint to the Prime Minister  

The North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) has sent a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Home Minister P Chidambram and state Minister for External Affairs Preneet Kaur. The letter has highlighted the “inhuman attitude of the Consul General of India, San Francisco, Susmita Thomas towards the Indian Community” for grant of a visa or a passport to the persons of Indian origin (PIOs).In the letter, the association had said due to harassment, the Indian community is full of resentment against the problems faced by them for visiting one’s own birth place. “The Indian community is fed up with the behaviour of the Consul General,” it reads.
