India won the toss and elected to bat...
Indian Captain MS Dhoni won the toss and chose to bat in the second Test in Kanpur. Though there was some grass cover on the pitch at Green Park, it was the obvious decision to make as the surface had a few cracks that the experts reckoned would widen and break up. The spinners are expected to come into play but the seamers too can be among the wickets on this surface with variable bounce. India have made 2 changes: Sreesanth, whose last Test was here in 2008, replaced Ishant Sharma and Pragyan Ojha came in for Amit Mishra, who took just one wicket in the Ahmedabad Test. Sri Lanka have gone in for three spinners as they have brought in Ajantha Mendis for the injured Dammika Prasad. Pitch and conditions
The last time the Kanpur pitch was prepared expessialy for the Indian spinners against South Africa, which India won by 8 wickets, however this time the curator says that the pitch is good for batting for the first 2 days and from the 3rd day onwards the pitch will start taking turn.
