Oscar-winning film-maker Danny Boyle will be artistic director for the London 2012 Olympic Games opening ceremony, organisers have announced.
The Slumdog Millionaire director said he was "honoured" by his appointment.
Boyle said it was a "unique opportunity to contribute to what I'm sure are going to be a fantastic Games."
Director Stephen Daldry is one of four other "creatives" who will oversee the Olympic and Paralympic Games' opening and closing ceremonies.
Beijing 2008 Games designer Mark Fisher, TV director Hamish Hamilton and producer Catherine Ugwu will also be part of the team.

Bollywood star Aamir Khan says he will soon post his first message on microblogging site Twitter but before that he plans to do a live chat on Facebook to keep the impostors at bay.
"I've been using Facebook a lot... the problem is anyone can be an impostor on the Internet. So I am thinking of a live chat on Facebook so that people will at least know it's me and not some impostor," said Aamir here.
And the reason for the actor's concern is genuine.
"I have close to 300,000 friends on Facebook... I stay in touch with my friends and fans there and both of us know each other," he said.
Looking dapper in a jet black Chinese collar suit, the 45-year-old was in the capital today, in a younger than ever avatar, to launch two new smartphones - Samsung Wave and Samsung Galaxy S.
Aamir is the brand ambassador of Samsung.
Asked about joining Twitter, as advised by none other than the Big B, he said: "Since Amitji has asked me to join Twitter, I guess I will soon have to be on the social scene as he has got that kind of voice, I just can't say no to him. But I don't know how regular I'll be on Twitter.
"Amitji showed me the functions of Twitter when we were in London and right now I am just trying to understand it. I'll send my first tweet soon."

Siddharth of Rang De Basanti now turns singer for his first solo-hero film Striker directed by Chandan Arora. Some of Bollywood’s biggest actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, among others have been in front of the mike previously. Siddharth has sung the song Bombay Bombay and Haq Se. Says Siddharth, "When Chandan and I heard the song Bombay Bombay composed by Amit Trivedi, we realised that the songs needed a different voice since it was an extension of my character in the film. Chandan asked me to sing the song and I loved the idea of singing a Hindi song. The song is about Mumbai city and everybody who loves to stay in the city would connect with the song for sure." However, this is not the first time the actor is lending his voice for a song. Siddharth has also sung for few of his Telugu films like Chukkallo Chandrudu, Bommarillu, Aata and Oy. Siddharth had a lot of fun while recording the song. Luckily for the actor language wasn’t a worry. He says, "I didn’t have any problem with the language as I have studied in Delhi and am very comfortable with Hindi. In fact it was fun singing like a tapori for the song."

After a string of big-ticket celebrities who have taken to reality shows on the small screen, it's now actress Rani Mukerji's turn. She is set to judge Sony TV's Rin Dance Premier League (DPL) along with actor Arshad Warsi and dance guru Shiamak Davar.

According to the channel, Rani will add to the scale, glamour and credibility of the show that premieres on Friday. She will be called Queen of DPL on the show and will decide the fortunes of the competing teams.
While Shiamak Davar will be evaluating performances and setting the difficulty level as the competition progresses as an 'umpire' on the show, Arshad will be a 'guest judge' for the auditions.
The show will have teams from different zones from across the country as well as abroad competing with each other. It is expected to highlight India's rich and diverse culture as each regional team will bring its own unique flavor to the performances.

Machinery and equipments come to a standstill for a while at most of the factories in devotion to Lord Vishwakarma who is believed to be creator and master of the machinery and equipments.

People establish Idol of God Vishwakarma and put down their tools and offer prayers to the Lord of Architect. At factories, machines' operation is stopped for a few hours.

According to the Hindu Mythology he is divine draftsman of the whole universe. He is son of Brahma. He is the official builder of all the gods' palaces.

The Mythology says that all the flying chariots of the Gods and all their weapons have been designed by the Lord Vishwakarma.

The Divine Draftsman has four hands. He wears a crown, loads of gold jewelry, and holds a water-pot, a book, a noose and craftsman's tools in his hands.

On September 16 or 17, workers and craftsmen offer prayer to Lord Vishwakarma to increase their productivity and gain divine inspiration for creating novel products.

The ritual usually takes place on the premises of the factories and workshops. In some parts of the country, after Vishwakarma Puja, people fly kites.
