Vaikunta Ekadasi 2010 is fallen on December 17th that is today. Tirumala Tirupathi and Sriranagam temples are telecasting Live streaming of this celebration.

This auspicious day comes every year on the Marghasira shukla paksha ekadasi in lunar calendar and this day is also famous as “Mokshada Ekadasi” too along with the well known name as Vaikuntha Ekadasi.

Vaikuntha Ekadasi is the major auspicious festival celebration for the most parts of the Southern India.

Most parts of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka celebrate this festival with utmost devotion and people observe fasting for the entire day.

Devotees believe that this day gates will be kept open for heaven and Lord Vishnu will be kept for dharshan in every temple from the North side of the temple.

Headley had not acted alone: Chidambaram told FBI

In a meeting early this year, Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram had discussed with FBI Director Robert Mueller the case of David Headley, a Pakistani-American in U.S. custody involved in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, saying he suspected Headley had not acted alone, according to a secret U.S. embassy cable made public by Wikileaks.

The FBI chief had said that Headley was giving the U.S. “the best information for months’’ on Pakistan-based terrorist groups. Mr. Chidambaram requested direct access to Headley, even if such access produces no information, and also access to Headley’s spouse.

Mr. Chidambaram asked whether an Indian government official could monitor Headley’s interrogation and submit questions “in real time”. He said that he had “a feeling in my bones that Headley was not acting here alone,’’ but conceded that he had no evidence to support his supposition that Headley formed sleeper cells in India, one of which may have been involved in the February 13 bombing in Pune, according to the February 26 cable of the U.S. embassy in New Delhi.

Wikileaks: Rahul Gandhi feared Hindu extremist threat

Rahul Gandhi, widely tipped as a future Indian PM, believed Hindu radicals might be a greater threat than Islamist militants, diplomatic cables reveal.

According to Wikileaks, Mr Gandhi told a US envoy last year there was some support among Indian Muslims for militants such as Lashkar-e-Taiba.

But he told ambassador Timothy Roemer the greater threat could come from the growth of radical Hindu groups.

Opposition have politicians responded, suggesting Mr Gandhi has "a sick mind".

Mr Gandhi was at a lunch hosted by Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in July 2009, Ambassador Roemer wrote in a cable a month later.

He recalls Mr Gandhi saying: "Although there was evidence of some support for Laskar-e-Taiba among certain elements in India's indigenous Muslim community, the bigger threat may be the growth of radicalised Hindu groups, which create religious tensions and political confrontations with the Muslim community."

WikiLeaks: Sonia "felt better" that someone else became PM in 2004

LONDON: After stepping aside in favour of Manmohan Singh to head the new UPA government in 2004, Congress President Sonia Gandhi "felt better" that someone else became prime minister and did not regret her decision.

According to a secret US cable released by WikiLeaks , Gandhi has also promised to write a book detailing the tense moments on the issue of who will become prime minister after the Congress-led UPA emerged victorious in the 2004 Lok Sabha elections.

Stating that she is often asked why she turned down the top job, Italian-born Gandhi told a visiting US dignitary in New Delhi in 2006 that "I am often asked about this, but tell people that I will write a book someday with the whole story."

The 2006 cable details Gandhi's meeting with Maria Shriver, the First Lady of California and wife of Governor Arnold Shwarznegger. It is is titled 'A Garrulous Sonia Gandhi Opens Up to Maria Shriver'.

Reporting the meeting, the cable says about Gandhi: "She would only say that she 'felt better' that someone else became PM and 'did not regret' her decision."

"Shriver congratulated Mrs Gandhi for her resoluteness and described her as 'courageous.'"
