The Indian rupee is all set to be recognized with it’s very own symbol. This new move to have a symbol to denote India’s currency, the rupee.
Indian government had invited designs for the Indian Rupee Symbol, in which about 4,000 rupee symbols were send to the finance Ministry and out of which 5 designs have been selected for last phase decision. The Decision from Finance Ministry will come today. According to insiders a sign of Hindi Letter (र) with a intersecting sign like Euro have will be our symbol for Indian Rupee.


The Cabinet Ministers will finalize the symbol today and sources say that chances are that a symbol reflecting the Hindi alphabet ‘R’ is most likely to be accepted.
