wild life in india
India has exciting diversity in habitats and wildlife supplemented by an equally rich variety of flora and fauna. The sight and sounds of a majestic elephant, a peacock?s dance, the stride of a camel, the roar of a tiger are unparalleled experiences in themselves. Watching birds and animals in their natural habitats is an experience in itself. Unlike Africa where all major species have almost exclusive habitats, in India, they co-exist in the wildlife parks providing excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing. Today India has more than 70 major National Parks and about 400 wildlife sanctuaries including bird reserves and 15 UNESCO Biosphere Reserves dotted around the country. In India you are never very far from a wildlife reserve. Most of these wildlife parks and sanctuaries have good accommodation facilities available within their premises or nearby. Depending on the area and terrain, wildlife watching may be done from elephant-back, jeeps, watchtowers or even boats. So wherever you are traveling in India, do take a break and visit a wildlife park and see some of India's abundance of animals and birds.
