In India, daughters and girls are depicted as Goddess Durga and Kali. Today is 'Ramnavami' and Hindus organise feast for 'Kanyas' (girls). In the Hindu mythology, the last day of Navratri festival is celebrated as Ramnavami. It is also believed that worshipping Kanya's on this occasion is significant way to show love and affection towards 'Maa Durga'.

Significantly this year Ramnavmi falls on the 'Daughters' Day'. The daughters' day is being celebrated on September 27, 2009.

The celebration of Daughters day in India is need of hour after declining number gender ratio in the country.

Killing of women foeticide in the country is still on. It is really shameful for the country, where girls are depicted as Goddess Laxmi and so many other forms of Goddess, are being frequently killed are became victim of humiliation.

Girls are still struggling to get their rights in the family. Some of the NGO comes forward and launched awareness programme against atrocity against girls.

On the occasion of Daughters' Day, some of the NGO has asked people having girls in their family to celebrate the occasion with great fervour and enthusiasm.

Daughters' Day is dedicated day for girls in the country. So geared up and greet your beloved daughter and sister on this occasion.
