ANDHRA CM : Bad weather, tough terrain hits search mission
The air and ground search for Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S.R. Reddy, whose helicopter went missing during a flight over Kurnool on Wednesday, is being made difficult by bad weather and tough terrain.
The chopper went missing over the Nallamala forest ranges, an area that stretches over Kurnool, Prakasam and Cuddapah districts of the state.
The terrain is thickly forested. The nearest inhabited area is Chittoor, which is 70 kilometres away.
The area has no road network. There are only jungle trails which just can't be used during the rains. The region witnessed heavy incessant rains, heavy fog and strong winds.
The weather conditions were so poor that the weather department had issued a warning against flying in the region.
