Intelligence Bureau chief to attend high-level meet on Chinese incursion
The Intelligence Bureau (IB) chief will remain present in the high-level meeting that has been called by National Security Adviser M K Narayanan on Thursday evening to discuss the issue of reported Chinese 'incursion' into Indian Territory.
Cabinet Secretary KM Chandrasekhar, Defence Secretary Pradeep Kumar, Home Secretary GK Pillai and Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao, chief of Intelligence Bureau, and chiefs of three armed forces will be attending the meeting that is to be chaired by Narayanan.
Research and Analysis Wing chief is also expected to be present during the meet. The meet will also formulate an appropriate response to what is widely seen as Beijing's hostile posturing.
A strategy will be formulated for an appropriate response to Beijing in the meeting. The high-level meet will scrutinise the nature of Chinese incursions and its larger ramifications for bilateral relations.
The meeting comes after reports about a high-profile war game, involving 50,000 troops, launched by the Chinese army that is aimed at improving Beijing's ability to deploy troops in Tibet whenever reinforcements are required.
